KUTRRH’S Institute Of Specialized Nursing Holds First Graduation For The Class Of 2022

KUTRRH’s INSTITUtE OF SPECIALIZED NURSING HOLDS FIRST GRADUATION

 Another Milestone For KUTRRH.

The Training Institute of Specialized Nursing (TISN) in KUTRRH held its first graduation on 2nd June 2023 at the Hospital’s auditorium in honour of the class that finished in 2022 with the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Mr Harry Kimtai gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour.The Training Institute of Specialized Nursing(TISN) was approved by the Nursing Council of Kenya in 2021 and is recognized by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) as a tertiary institution.

The college offers Specialised Nursing Programs namely: Higher Diploma in Critical Care nursing, Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing, Higher Diploma in Nephrology and Higher Diploma in Peri-operative Nursing. However, the Institute began in 2021 by offering the Kenya Registered Oncology Nursing (KRON) and the Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing (KRCCN). The first class finished in 2022 and had 12 students that were graduating with KRON and 27 with KRCCN.

Management led by the CEO Mr. Ahmed Dagane; Ms. Caroline Muchina, the Corporation Secretary & Director of Legal Services in the Nursing Council of Kenya; Ms. Catherine
Chacha from the office of the Head of Nursing and Midwifery Services; Prof. Wangari Mwai,the Vice Chancellor of The Presbyterian University of East Africa among other dignitaries
and KUTRRH staff, the graduands families and friends

The PS in his congratulatory speech applauded the graduates for their remarkable achievement in attaining the Higher Diploma. “ I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each one
of you .Your graduation is not just a personal triumph , but a moment of pride for your families, your educators and your nation. I wish to congratulate KUTRRH for actualizing the
government’s mandate of providing facilities for education for our health professionals, “the PS told the graduands.

The Chairperson of KUTRRH’s Board of Directors congratulated the graduates for their hard work and wished them every success in their onward journey. She noted that KUTRRH
is mandated to provide facilities for education and training in nursing as per the Legal Notice No 4 of 2019 which set up the Hospital as a
Training, Referral and Research institution. Prof. Mugenda stated that “KUTTRH is committed to enabling the Government to achieve its objectives.” She thanked the graduates by
taking a leap of faith by enrolling with a new Institute which did not have a past record to show. The Institute will hold a second graduation soon for the class that is set to finish in 2023.
