Cancer has become so rampant, with an increasing number of cases in recent years leading to the hospital embarking on a journey in 2019 to diagnose cancer, receiving their first certification with the goal of providing quality patient-centered care. On Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, as we celebrated World Cancer Day, the hospital received a certificate renewal, which is done
annually.
The hospital met the minimal standards of being a cancer centre through continuous and impromptu inspection from the International Cancer Institute (ICI). This was achieved by having the necessary staff, including clinical oncologists, specialised nurses, nutritionists, palliative care specialists, physiotherapists, gynaecological oncologists and having the necessary equipment, as well as ICU and HDU units. Having met the minimum standards in 2019, the hospital has gradually improved and is now fully equipped with the necessary machines and competent staff.
It offers a wide range of services, including radiography, MRI, CT scans, ultrasounds, and mammogram. Additionally, it provides various treatment options such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. The Hospital also established Integrated molecular imaging centre (IMIC) for comKUTRRH RECERTIFIED AS A COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTRE. prehensive early diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Beyond having state-of-the-art equipment, the Hospital is forging collaborations with local and international institutions, the goal is to carry out groundbreaking research and to offer innovative clinical care that provides advanced treatment.
Having achieved all this it is now a comprehensive cancer centre. Although we also receive out-patient and conduct cancer screening,We also accept referrals for patients from other hospitals who have either being diagnosed or not,some come for diagnosis or staging depending on the tests carried out. Cancer certification is crucial for both hospitals and patients, and it plays a significant role in improving service delivery.
