It was celebration galore as the hospital’s Directorate for ICTI, under the stewardship of Dr. Mwirigi Kiula, Director of Information Communication Technology & Innovation (DICTI), scooped the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Year Award 2025.
The Digital Transformation Public Sector (DTPS) Awards 2025 were organized by the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy in collaboration with Greydale Africa. The event recognized excellence in public sector organizations and leaders who leverage technology to enhance efficiency, productivity, transparency, and quality service delivery to Kenyans.
It also marked a significant milestone in our nation’s journey toward achieving digital excellence. Dr. Kiula was named the CTO of the Year, a recognition that falls under the leadership category and is second only to the CEO of the Year Award.
This prestigious award honors public sector technology leaders who drive innovative, sustainable, and scalable digital transformation strategies that align with their organization’s mission and goals.

This award adds to numerous other recognitions for KUTRRH and its staff, with one of the most recent being the 3rd Best-Performing State Corporation.
The CTO of the Year Award also highlights the impact of the KUTRRH 4-Point Digital Transformation Agenda, spearheaded by the ICT and Innovation Directorate, in promoting Quality Patient-Centered Care.
The 4-Point agenda focuses on:
-
Using technology (going paperless) to improve the citizen experience.
-
Ensuring technology works 99.9% of the time through expert development and support teams.
-
Making data visible, processed, and analyzed to support sound decision-making.
-
Driving disruptive innovation and research to break new ground in healthcare and health technologies.
Congratulations to our very own Dr. Kiula and the entire ICT and Innovation Directorate for this significant recognition and your outstanding contribution to achieving Quality Patient-Centred Care for Kenyans.
