CANECSA Scholarship Programme

CANECSA is a college of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central and Southern Africa. The College aims to advance education, standards and research in safe anaesthesia and critical care for the people of East, Central and Southern Africa.

Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH), as an accredited CANECSA training centre, invites internal applications for a four (4)-year scholarship programme commencing January 2025. The scholarship will be awarded to one (1) qualified and eligible KUTRRH staff member seeking to undertake training under the CANECSA residency programme.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • Both certificate of registration and retention from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • Must have valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • Have worked at KUTRRH for a minimum continuous period of two (2) years as a full time staff;
  • Must have demonstrated a strong work ethic and a positive attitude towards work;
  • Must have a clean disciplinary record;

Suitably qualified candidates should apply online in confidence via: recruitment.kutrrh.go.ke. In the application include the subject line that clearly indicates the Job Reference Number and the position applied for (i.e. “Application for CANECSA” and Reference Number V/FT/60/2025).

Required Documents (PDF Format)

  • A letter of application;
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council or its equivalent;
  • Both Certificate of Registration and Retention from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • A copy of a valid practicing license;
  • A letter of recommendation from the immediate supervisor at the time of application;
  • Detailed curriculum vitae with at-least three academic referees;
  • A valid Professional Indemnity Cover and Medical Cover;

Application Deadline

All applications should reach KUTRRH not later than Monday, 1 December 2025.
