CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR COSECSA AND CANECSA RESIDENCY PROGRAMS

Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a State Corporation established under Legal Notice No. 4 of 2019 as a Level 6 Referral Hospital equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities. KUTRRH employs cutting edge research, innovation, training and partnerships to keep abreast with advancements in healthcare management. The Hospital’s vision is to be a premier referral Hospital renown for excellence in clinical care, training, research and innovation with a mission to enhance the health and well-being of Kenyans and global citizens through provision of patient-centered and evidence-based healthcare.

KUTRRH is an accredited training centre for both COSECSA and CANECSA and hereby invites applications for residency positions under the two (2) programmes. These programmes play a critical role in advancing medical education, specialist training, and professional standards within their respective fields across the East, Central, and Southern Africa regions.

Under COSECSA, the hospital offers a five (5)-year residential training programme in General Surgery, while CANECSA offers a four (4)-year residential training programme in Anaesthesiology.

All potential candidates MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • Both certificate of registration and retention from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • Must have valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • Have served in a busy surgical department post internship for a minimum continuous period of two (2) years;
  • Must have demonstrated a strong work ethic and a positive attitude towards work;
  • Must have a clean disciplinary record;

Applicants are required to attach the following documents in PDF format:

  • A letter of application;
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council or its equivalent;
  • Both Certificate of Registration and Retention from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
  • A copy of a valid practicing license;
  • A letter of recommendation from the immediate supervisor at the time of application;
  • Detailed curriculum vitae with at-least three academic referees;
  • A valid Professional Indemnity Cover and Medical Cover;
  • Proof of full financial support from the respective employer for the full duration of the course is mandatory. There shall be no salary or compensation attached to these positions.
