Kenya University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is currently hosting a Cardiac Surgical Camp from 21st to 24th September, bringing advanced cardiac surgical expertise and specialized treatment closer to patients who need it. The team held a meeting with KUTRRH CEO, Dr. Zeinab Gura earlier today to share progress on the initiative. The camp has continued to see needy patients benefit from advanced procedures including heart bypass surgeries (CABG) to clear blocked vessels, adult valve replacement and repair surgeries, and aortic surgery to fix as well as reinforce main blood valves from swell, weakening or tears. This is hence providing an opportunity for patients with heart conditions to access advanced cardiac procedures and specialized surgical care, demonstrating the growing capacity of Kenya’s healthcare system to provide complex cardiac services locally.
Advanced cardiac care has a significant impact on patients, families and the nation. By expanding access to highly specialized procedures, cardiac surgical services can help patients receive appropriate treatment closer to home, reduce the need to seek complex care abroad, support earlier intervention, and contribute to the development of specialized medical expertise and capacity in Kenya.
