Martin Ochieng Ayoo

Director, ICT and Innovation

Martin Ochieng Ayoo is the Director of ICT and Innovation at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital, a leading Level 6 national referral and teaching hospital in Kenya. In his role, he provides strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and management of Information and Communication Technology systems that support healthcare delivery, research, innovation, and hospital operations.

He has played a key role in advancing digital health initiatives, including the implementation of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS), integration of e-government platforms, data management systems, and ICT infrastructure modernization. His professional focus includes digital transformation, ICT governance, systems integration, data protection, business continuity, and strategic technology planning.

He is a graduate of KCA University with a Master of Science (MSc.) in Data Communications, and of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology with a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Information Technology. He also holds a Diploma and Certificate in Information Technology from the same institution, specializing in technical support and system administration.

He possesses international ICT certifications, including International Computer Driving License (ICDL) from Computer Society of South Africa, PVCTA from Pearson VUE (US), A+ (IT Technician) and Network+ from CompTIA (UK), CCNA, CUPS and CCNA Voice from Cisco Systems (US), MCTS/MCITP from Microsoft (US), ITIL V3 Foundation from APMG International, PMI-ACP and PMP from the Project Management Institute (US), and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA.

He has also undertaken leadership and management training, including the Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP No. 208/2020) and Senior Management Course (No. 253/2016) from the Kenya School of Government, an Advanced Certificate in Operational Management from BMTG/QUALIFI (UK), and a Corporate Governance Course from the Centre for Corporate Governance.

Martin is recognized for his strong leadership in team management, stakeholder engagement, project implementation, and ICT policy development. He is passionate about leveraging technology to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainable development in healthcare and other sectors.
