Dr. Gladys W. Mwangi

Dr. Mwangi is a career pharmacist and a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences at Kenyatta University (KU), Kenya. She is a holder of Master of Pharmacy in Clinical Pharmacy (paediatrics and infectious diseases) and a PhD in Pharmacology. She has research interests in toxicology, particularly in snake bite envenomation. Her recent research is in the antivenin activity of herbs commonly used in Kenya against D. polylepis snakebite.

Her other interests include the Management of Medicine in International Health (MMIH), complementary and alternative medicine (such as moxibustion, cupping, and acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine – TCM). Dr. Mwangi has done numerous trainings on various topics in the pharmaceutical sector.

She has worked in the Ministry of Health at various hospitals before joining Kenyatta University where she has held various administrative positions, currently serving as the Executive Dean in the School of Health Sciences at KU, a member of the Board of the National Phytotherapeutics Research Center (NPRC) and the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC – EA) both located at Kenyatta University.
